Ivory Coast is a country that has long been plagued by unrest. There was a civil war from 2002 to 2007 and a violent crisis after the presidential elections in 2010-2011. The security situation has now greatly improved, but tourists still avoid the country because there are still tensions. Unfortunately, this means that many tourist attractions are hidden from attention. The country has beautiful white beaches, large banana plantations, tropical rainforests and mountains. In addition, it has several National Parks, including the largest National Park in West Africa called “Comoé National Park”. This park of 11,500 km² is home to elephants and hippos, among others. In other parts of Ivory Coast, chimpanzees and panthers can be found. The country's most famous sport is football.
