Niue

Niue is best known for its marine life. Due to the clarity of the water (30-70 meters visibility) and the presence of many coral reefs and fish species, the island is a paradise for divers and snorkelers. The island's coastline consists partly of white sandy beaches and partly of rock formations. There are many caves and unspoilt areas of nature inland. Niue's economy is largely based on agriculture and is also largely dependent on the New Zealand government. The population of Niue has fallen significantly in recent years. This is often due to a cyclone that hit the island in 2004.
