South Sudan is a country in full development. The country still has a lot to do after the secession from Sudan. It is particularly turbulent in the border areas with Sudan and there are still frequent incidents of violence outside the major cities. In addition, it is still suffering from extensive damage from a long-running civil war (1954 to 2005). The country wants to get tourism going as quickly as possible. At the moment there are only good facilities such as hotels, restaurants and bars in the capital Juba. The biggest attraction of South Sudan are the various National Parks in the south of the country. These are best known for the largest migration of antelopes in the world (7 million animals). In addition, many other animal species live here, including: lions, giraffes, elephants and monkeys. Other sights in South Sudan include the bridge over the Nile, the John Garang Mausoleum and Jebel Kujur mountain.
